The second LRT in Singapore, Sengkang LRT opened, with the exception of Sengkang West LRT.
3 March 2003
A car crashed onto a stretch of at-grade track along Lentor Avenue in between Khatib MRT Station and Yio Chu Kang MRT Station, resulting in a light, minor collision by an oncoming train.

The third LRT in Singapore, Punggol LRT opened, with the exception of Oasis and Damai stations on Punggol East LRT and all stations in Punggol West LRT. Sengkang West LRT opened, with the exception of Cheng Lim, Farmway and Kupang.

Opening of the line to Bukit Batok from Bukit Panjang (Light Rapid Transit), stations include Hillview and Bukit Batok East.

Singapore MRT bombings in Marina Bay, Raffles Place, Toa Payoh and Dhoby Ghaut. There is also a bus explosion in Toa Payoh.

Opening of Buangkok Station between Hougang and Sengkang.

Due to the construction of North Coast Line, the Pasir Ris section (maintenance area) will be cut down.
24 July 2006
Stations south of Dhoby Ghaut closed due to lost of traction power. Attempts to bring the power back failed and hundred passengers were evacuated from the trains. According to later investigations, a cable which supplied traction power came loose.

2008
1 January 2008
North South MRT Line was converted to ATO (Automatic Train Operation). Ang Mo Kio - Pasir Ris section split into two sets of train phases, Ang Mo Kio - Jurong East (North South Line) and Jurong East - Pasir Ris (East West Line). The tracks became a experimental closing. This only late night services (after 2230) and freight/maintenance trains allowed.
Night services were also launched, the lines are:
East West Line: Pasir Ris - Boon Lay
North East Line: HarbourFront - Punggol
North South Line: Jurong East - Marina Bay

Opening of North Coast Line from Pasir Ris to Punggol.
21 January 2008
No trains were going along this rail because of a service train accident in the middle of Simei MRT Station and Tampines MRT Station in the midnight. Residents along the nearby flats heard a crash sound and when they looked out they were surprised to see a service train minor crash. The trains are suspended east of Tanah Merah in 21 January 2008. The East Rail Line and West Rail Line had freight trains and intercity trains, heard a crash. LTA fined SMRT/TfS, $387,176 for the crashes.
