Opening of the eighth section of the MRT
Stations include Bukit Batok, Bukit Gombak and Choa Chu Kang, from Jurong East.
6 July 1990
Opening of the final section of the MRT
Stations include Boon Lay, extended from Lakeside.
1 October 1990
PTC have applied fare adjustment. 10 cent increase in all prices.
1993
5 August 1993
Two C151 trains collided each other at Clementi MRT Station. The collision happened because a work train that did maintenance work early morning had spilled some oil onto the tracks.

1994 Rolling Stock
The new C651 have been arrived.
1 June 1994
PTC have applied fare adjustment, resulting another 10 cent increase.
7 August 1994
The section of Yishun (Yishun north) had to be shortened due to the construction of Woodlands Extension.
15 November 1994
The Marina Bay station have added more length to unused tunnel south.
1995
1 October 1995
PTC have applied fare adjustment, change of distance-related fare structure to charge more, adjustment of fare structure to have different pricing between Single Trip and Farecard fares.
1996
10 February 1996
Opening of the Woodlands Extension.
Stations from Yishun, via Sembawang, Admiralty, Woodlands, Marsiling, Kranji, Yew Tee to Choa Chu Kang.
16 February 1996
Construction begins on North East Line.
1997
1 June 1997
PTC have applied fare adjustment. 10 cents increase for all Single-Trip Fares, 10 cents discount for Adult Farecard fares before 7.30am and $2-$5 increase for concession prices.
9 October 1997
A maintenance train derailed in Toa Payoh station. It was because the staff member failed to reset the track alignment properly.
1999
13 April 1999
An empty C651 train on its way back to Bishan Depot after derailment between Yio Chu Kang and Khatib. It was because the station master failed to reset the track alignment properly.
1999 Rolling Stock
The new C751B - generation have been arrived.
6 November 1999
The Light Rapid Transit in Bukit Panjang opens.
